Red Hot Titans Cool Off Panthers

Milwaukee suffers first league loss of the year

Southfield, Mich. - The red hot Detroit Titans could not be cooled off Sunday, winning their fourth-straight match with a 4-0 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee tennis team at the Franklin Athletic Club.

The loss is the first league loss of the year for the Panthers, dropping to 2-1 in the Horizon League this season.

For Detroit, 2-0 the league play this season and have now won four straight and seven of their last nine.

"Unfortunately we weren't able to secure the doubles point, and when you play a team as deep as Detroit, that is imperative," Milwaukee head coach Maddy Soule said. "Finding four singles matches after losing a doubles point is very tough to do against a good team. Although we did not finish the match, it was looking promising at the two, three and six positions, which would have given us three wins.

"Our goal in the upcoming weeks are to secure the doubles points and practice in a way that will give us the most confidence to do so. Despite the loss, I think the girls battled and are determined to have a really good two weeks of practice looking to continue conference play."

The Panthers return home for a non-conference matchup against Akron on Tuesday at 1 p.m. from the North Shore Elite Tennis Club.
