Tennis Comes Up Short To Strong Drake Squad

Des Moines, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee tennis team just couldn't quite get on track in a tough loss to an up-and-coming Drake team at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs improve to 9-3 and are a perfect 7-0 at home this season, proving to be just too much to handle for a young Milwaukee (2-7) team.

"Drake is a very solid and deep team," Milwaukee head coach Maddy Soule said. "They have become a lot stronger under new coaching and, despite some battles, we weren't able to find any wins."

Milwaukee battled hard all afternoon, but just couldn't quite find its rhythm Saturday. Chelsea Bailey forced extras in her second set before falling at the top spot, while Mardee Merar and Dana Shannon went back-and-forth in their doubles match with Adrienne Jenson and Jordan Eggleston before coming up just short.

The Panthers will look to rebound on Sunday, taking on Iowa State at 9 a.m.
