Panthers Drop Tough Decision To Broncos

UWM comes up just short in doubles point

MILWAUKEE –
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee tennis team suffered some hard-luck losses and came up just short to Western Michigan University Friday afternoon at North Shore Elite.

"We definitely had our chances today," Milwaukee head coach Maddy Soule said. "The doubles point came down to a matter of two points and I think it really hurt us when we lost the doubles point. There were many close matches but we weren't able to capitalize on some opportunities. The girls are as talented as any of the teams we play, it's just a matter of finding wins."

The Panthers started the day by just missing out on the doubles point. Hayley Marshall and Chelsea Bailey cruised to a 6-2 win at the two spot. At the No. 1 doubles, Alysa Straub and Christina Colarossi forced their match into extras before coming up just short in a marathon doubles match.

Colarossi also battled hard in her singles match to take earn the win.

Milwaukee's Saturday match against IUPUI has been postponed, so the Panthers' next time out will be next Saturday with a trip to Drake.
