MILWAUKEE - Former Milwaukee men's basketball player Mitchell Carter has signed a professional contract to play for Santos de San Luis Potosi in Mexico for the remainder of the 2015-16 season.

Santos de San Luis Potosi is a member of the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional (LNBP), the top professional basketball league in Mexico.

Carter played last season at Beroe in the Bulgarian NBL league. In 23 games he posted 11.6 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.

Carter recently returned to campus to finish his degree, earning a Bachelor of Science in Africology.

"We were thrilled to see Mitchell come back home and finish his degree," Milwaukee head coach
Rob Jeter said. "But now, we are even more proud of his accomplishments as he continues to live his dream of playing professional basketball."

Carter has also played in the finals in the IBA in 2012 and was voted Second Team All-EuroBasket Summer League in 2013.
