MILWAUKEE (November 5, 2015) –
Matt Tiby scored a team-high 21 points, hitting five of the Panthers' 13 three-pointers on the night, to help power Milwaukee past Parkside, 81-62, in exhibition action at the Klotsche Center tonight. The Panthers connected for 13 treys on the night, including a whopping 10 in the first half alone, to cruise to the victory.

"I thought we were a little sloppy in the second half, and our inability to take care of the basketball is something we have to improve. But if we could clean up that area, I'd be a lot happier than I am right now," Milwaukee head coach Rob Jeter said. "I was pleased with our point guard play and like how Jordan Johnson manages the game. He's only going to get better. We have a lot of good things to learn from tonight."

Akeem Springs scored the first four points of the game to give Milwaukee an early lead which grew to 9-0 before the Rangers dented the scoreboard, and the Panthers would never look back, leading from start to finish.

An incredible display of long-range shooting in the first half, which during one stretch featured six total threes by four different players over a 3:39 run, gave Milwaukee a commanding 33-9 advantage. The Panthers' final triple of the half, this one from Austin Arians with 6:25 showing on the clock, gave Milwaukee its largest lead of the evening at 46-15.

Milwaukee opened the game by hitting 9 of its first 13 shots from beyond the arc and finished the period 10-for-20 to build a 50-27 lead at the break.

Tiby added two more threes early in the second half and he finished a perfect 5-for-5 from downtown on the evening. Dating back to last season, the Preseason First Team All-Horizon League selection has converted a whopping 13 of 15 shots from long range over his last three appearances.

A layup by Springs gave Milwaukee a 71-49 lead with a little under seven minutes remaining before Parkside rattled off nine consecutive points to draw within 71-58. But, a layup from Tiby ignited an 8-0 Panther run that gave the hosts control of the contest and sealed the outcome.

In addition to his team-high 21 points, which included 8-for-12 shooting from the field, Tiby added seven rebounds. Arians (13 points, 7 boards), Jordan Johnson (13 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists) and J.R. Lyle (10 points, 4 steals) also scored in double figures for Milwaukee, which wound up connecting on 54.2 percent (32-for-59) of its field goal attempts for the game.

Andy Mazurczak led Parkside with a game-high 23 points.

Milwaukee opens the 2015-16 regular season when it travels to Santa Clara, Calif., to compete in the Cable Car Classic hosted by Santa Clara University, next weekend. The Panthers open up play at the Cable Car Classic versus Denver on November 13.
