ESTERO, Fla. (November 24, 2015) –
Matt Tiby scored a career-high 29 points and Austin Arians added a season-best 21, but Milwaukee (4-3)was unable to put the game away in overtime, dropping a thriller to Duquesne (4-1), 96-92, this afternoon at Germain Arena as part of the Gulf Coast Showcase. The Dukes scored the final eight points in overtime to erase a four-point deficit and claim the victory.

Much like last couple of games, the Panthers opened the game on fire, scoring the first eight points, five of which were attributed to Tiby, to snag an 8-0 lead. Duquesne answered right back with a 15-7 run of its own to tie the game.

Milwaukee used with a 16-6 spurt that was capped by a Brock Stull layup to open up a 37-27 advantage, its largest of the half, but the Dukes closed out the period on a 15-3 run to take a 42-40 lead at the half.

The Panthers found themselves in a precarious situation, down 63-51 with 11:13 left in regulation before going on a 20-8 run, during which Tiby scored 12 of his 29 points. His free throw with 5:13 remaining capped the Milwaukee surge and evened the contest at 71.

A three by Arians put Milwaukee on top 82-79 with a shade over two minutes left to play, but five straight points by the Dukes gave them a two-point advantage before J.J. Pansoke's jumper with 50 seconds remaining tied the game at 84. Duquesne had an opportunity to win the game, but Derrick Colter's layup fell short as regulation ended, sending the teams into an extra session.

Midway through the overtime period, Akeem Springs buried a pair of free throws and Tiby followed with a three-pointer to turn a one-point deficit into a 92-88 Milwaukee lead. Duquesne countered by scoring the final eight points, four of which came courtesy of Micah Mason, and his layup with 43 seconds remaining gave Duquesne the lead for good.

"This was a heartbreaker. To be up four with two minutes to go in overtime hurts," Milwaukee head coach Rob Jeter said. "We put ourselves in a position to win, but found a way to lose. This is a learning opportunity and we have to find a way to get better."

Twenty of Tiby's career-best 29 points came in the second half and overtime and he finished 9 of 14 from the field, including 5 of 7 from three-point range. In addition to his 21 points, Arians snagged seven boards and added three assists, while Springs continued his solid play by pitching in 16 points, six rebounds and four assists.

Jordan Johnson recorded nine points and dished out a season-high 13 assists for the Panthers, who shot 43.3 percent from the field for the game.

Colter scored a team-high 27 points to pace Duquesne, which also received 26 points from Mason. The Dukes connected on 64.8 percent of their field goal attempts on the day.

Milwaukee moves into the seventh-place game where it will take on the loser of Central Michigan – Western Kentucky tomorrow at noon Eastern.
