JayQuan McCloud scored a team-high 17 points and junior
Jordan Johnson added 16 as the Gold Team held on for a 63-60 victory in the annual Black & Gold Men's Basketball Scrimmage at Klotsche Center tonight.
The Gold Team built an early first-half lead behind the hot shooting of McCloud, who tallied 11 of his team-best 17 points during the opening 20 minutes. But, the Black Team sliced into the deficit and closed the gap to 32-29 at the half.
Cody Wichmann (17 points) found his stroke in the second period and knocked down five three-pointers to help the Black Team get back into the game, but his squad's last-second three-point attempt fell short as Gold held on for the win.
Austin Arians added 15 points for the Gold Team, while
Brett Prahl chipped in 13 and
Justin Jordan and
Akeem Springs notched 11 apiece for the Black Team.
Milwaukee hosts Parkside in an exhibition game November 5 at Klotsche Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
