Panthers Put Up Good Fight Before Falling To Nationally Ranked Gophers

Results

Minneapolis, Minn. –
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team battled hard before coming up just short to nationally ranked Minnesota Sunday morning from the Baseline Tennis Center.

"Minnesota is a very talented team," Milwaukee head coach Maddy Soule said. "Today showed where we are as a team and where we need to be. A lot of our matches were much closer than the score reflected and the points were long and close. Overall, we did alright but we need to work that much harder this week in preparation for the future."

Christina Colarossi and Alysa Straub nearly took down #71 Minnesota's top doubles team of Tereza Brichacova and Mehvish Safdar, forcing extras but coming up just short, 7-6.

In singles action, Chelsea Bailey battled deep into the match against Jessika Mozia at the No. 2 spot before eventually falling, 7-5, 6-1.

Colarossi also put forward a great showing at the No. 5 singles spot before bowing out to Paula Rincon Otero, 6-4, 6-1.

Next up for Milwaukee is a trip across town to take on Big East foe Marquette Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
