Minneapolis, Minn. -Â Hayley Marshall and
Chelsea Bailey claimed a doubles title in just the first day of action to lead the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee tennis team in the first day at the Gopher Invitational Friday at the Baseline Tennis Center.

The day began with doubles action where the Panthers – who won a doubles title last week – again topped the very deep field for a title. Marshall and Bailey cruised past their first opponents, 8-1, before an 8-3 win over the top duo from Northern Illinois.

In singles play,
Christina Colarossi powered to an easy first-round win of the Minneapolis Flight. Colarossi won, 6-1, 6-1, over Tiffany Filipovich from South Dakota State to advance to Saturday's elite eight pairing.

Marshall also had a strong showing in singles play. The sophomore breezed past Evelyn Youel of NIU, 6-2, 6-3, in the St. Paul Flight of singles action.

The Panthers will continue their busy weekend with the second day of action in Minneapolis Saturday starting at 9 a.m.
