Des Moines, Iowa - Sophomore Aerielle Pendleton won one flight while Chelsea Bailey and Christina Colarossi won a doubles flight to headline a solid final day of action for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee tennis team at the Drake Invite Sunday.UWM finished up with 14 wins over the three-day tournament to kick off its fall season.
"We finished the tournament strong today," Milwaukee head coach Maddy Soule said. "Overall, I think the invite went very well considering it was our first invite and the team only had a few days of preparation. They carried themselves well and represented UWM in a very positive way. Now, it's time to get back at it at practice, work on a few things and get ready for next weekend in Minnesota."
Pendleton finished up the tournament in the championship match of her flight. Going against Jacqueline Baude of Omaha, Pendleton dropped the first set but battled back and showed incredible fight, winning going away in three sets, 4-6, 7-5, 10-4.
Milwaukee won another title on the day as Bailey and Colarossi teamed up to take the top spot in the `B' flight doubles action. The Panther duo continued to impress, winning its fourth match in three days and taking home the title, 8-5.
Bailey also played in her flight consolation final on the day, but fell, 6-4, 6-3.
The Panthers now head to the Gopher Invitational in Minneapolis, starting Friday.
