The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee won five of six singles matches in claiming a 5-2 win over Oakland Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers (6-7, 2-0 Horizon) recovered quickly after dropping a competitive doubles point and were never threatened in four of the wins in clinching the victory.
Diana Tokar, Christina Colarossi, Alysa Straub and Kristin Kurer all won in straight-sets, with Tokar capturing her sixth-straight singles win. Chelsea Bailey also captured a singles win, claiming victory in a third-set tiebreaker. Meanwhile, Hayley Marshall lost in a third-set tiebreak.
In doubles play, Colarossi and Kurer teamed up for a 9-7 win in the third spot, but Oakland won the point on the strength of victories in the first and second spots.
Milwaukee wraps up a very busy weekend of league play with an important league contest Sunday against Detroit, which was picked to finish second in the league. The match is set to get started at approximately 11 a.m. at North Shore Elite.
