Panthers Come Up Short In Road Trip Opener At UNI

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - Diana Tokar and Kristin Kurer each won singles matches but the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee dropped a 5-2 decision to Northern Iowa Friday night.

Tokar captured an impressive three-set win in the top spot over Jieke Stroobant. She recovered after dropping the first set, 6-1, to win the second, 6-2. She then won the third-set tiebreaker, 10-8.

Meanwhile, Kurer claimed a 7-5, 7-5 win over Sydney Wolfe in the sixth spot.

Milwaukee (4-6) also had a great chance to win the doubles point but came up just short. In the top slot, Tokar and Dana Shannon dropped an 8-6 decision. Alysa Straub and Hayley Marshall lost in a tiebreaker in the second spot.

UWM continues its weekend road trip at Illinois State Saturday.
