MADISON, Wis. - Kristin Kurer claimed a singles win but the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team fell 6-1 to Wisconsin Sunday afternoon.

Kurer's victory came in the sixth singles spot, as she claimed a 6-2, 6-2 win over Becca Bailey.

Milwaukee was competitive in a number of other matches. UWM could well have won the doubles point, with Christina Colarossi and Diana Tokar falling just 8-6 in the top spot while Hayley Marshall and Alysa Straub suffered an 8-5 loss in the second spot.

In singles play, Chelsea Bailey battled in the second spot before falling, 6-4, 6-3, to Lauren Burich. Plus, Dana Shannon suffered a hard-fought 6-4, 6-2 loss to Sydney Rider in the fourth spot.

Milwaukee continues its challenging non-league slate with a match at DePaul next Saturday.
