FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (December 22, 2014) –
Matt Tiby scored a team-high 15 points, but the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (5-8) shot just 29 percent from the field in an 84-54 loss to Arkansas (9-2) tonight at Bud Walton Arena.

"I thought we did some nice things in the second half but the last eight minutes it got away from us and their pressure got to us," Milwaukee Head Coach Rob Jeter said. "The positive things is we got to the free throw line 25 times tonight."

Baskets were at a premium early as both teams were slow out of the starting block. Arkansas used a 12-3 run to open up a 23-12 lead before Milwaukee answered back with an 8-3 spurt of its own that featured three-pointers from Steve McWhorter and Cody Wichmann to close the gap to 26-20.

But, a 9-4 Razorback run closed out the period to give the hosts a 35-24 lead at the half. Although it shot just 31 percent from the field itself in the opening 20 minutes, Milwaukee limited the high-powered Arkansas offense to 39 percent shooting overall, including a meager 1-for-9 (11 percent) from three-point range.

A three-point play courtesy of J.J. Panoske opened the second half and brought the Panthers within single digits, but the Razorbacks rattled off six unanswered points to push their lead to 14 (41-27). Milwaukee would get no closer than 12 the rest of the way and Arkansas led by as many as 32 points in the second half.

In addition to Tiby's 15 points, the Panthers got 13 from McWhorter and nine apiece from Panoske and Akeem Springs.

Bobby Portis tallied 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead Arkansas.

The Panthers take a brief respite for the Holidays before resuming their five-game road trip when they head to South Dakota on December 28.
