MILWAUKEE - Cole Darling and Jerran Young scored 18 points apiece and Wright State never trailed in the game en route to a 64-49 win over the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Saturday night at the Klotsche Center.

The Raiders (17-8, 8-4) moved into a second-place tie with Detroit in the Horizon League by steadily building an advantage while limiting Milwaukee to 40 percent shooting and forcing 16 turnovers.

Paris Gulley had 10 points while Jordan Aaron and Demetrius Harris added seven points apiece for the Panthers (5-20, 1-10).

Wright State closed the first half on a 14-5 run and never looked back in the second 20 minutes.

"That right there was a lesson on how to guard, how to play tough, and to do it on every possession, not just some of the possessions," Milwaukee head coach Rob Jeter said. "It's one thing I admire about a team like Wright State. They are just not going to allow you to play a certain way."

Wright State scored 10 of the first 12 points of the game but Milwaukee countered with an 11-3 burst to tie the game at 13. The tying basket came on an impressive lob dunk by Demetrius Harris. The Panthers were still within 18-16 after a three-pointer by Austin Arians, but Wright State finished the half with a surge. The Raiders went ahead 26-16 on a three-pointer by Young and led 32-21 at the half.

Milwaukee did pull to within 40-32 on a three-pointer by Paris Gulley early in the second half but the Panthers could get no closer. Wright State went up 46-32 on a pair of Cole Darling free throws and 51-36 on a layin by Kendall Griffin and then was never threatened down the stretch.

The Panthers wrap up their three-game homestand Tuesday night when Loyola visits the Klotsche Center for a 7 p.m. contest.
