YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (Sept. 29, 2012) - A pair of chipped goals for Youngstown State held up as the Penguins handed the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's soccer team a 2-1 defeat Saturday afternoon at Stambaugh Stadium.

The Panthers (2-7-1, 1-2 Horizon) trailed 2-0, but their comeback came up short as they were able to get a goal back by Krissy Dorre and no closer in falling to YSU (6-4, 1-0 Horizon).

"It was a disappointing result," UWM head coach Greg Henschel said. "It was a tough environment to play in and in the end we just didn't play well in the first half. We have to work to get our consistency up."

Milwaukee struggled throughout the game to get its offense on track, falling behind in just the ninth minute. Jade Flory played a through ball that Chelsea Haney was able to run on to the ball and chip over the oncoming Jamie Forbes. It was the first time YSU has ever led Milwaukee in the 12th game in the all-time series.

The rest of the half was back and forth in the first half, with the Panthers getting forward with more dangerous attacks. Jackie Podolosky had a pair of tremendous saves towards the end of the frame to keep her team ahead.

Helen Steinhauser sent a free kick from 25 yards out at the far post at one point. Moments prior to halftime, Forbes sent a ball into the box from midway through her defensive half. Krissy Dorre was able to meet the ball and had her shot turned away at the near post by Podolsky.

After the break, the game looked as though a high score was imminent. The Penguins were awarded a penalty kick in the 49th minute, but Forbes came up with the save. Then, just 90 seconds later, Sara Stern was taken down in the box for a penalty kick UWM's way. Forbes came forward to take the attempt, but unfortunately, Podolsky made the save.

YSU would strike for another goal, very similar in style to its first. This time, Flory ran on to a through ball and chipped it into the net.

Dorre cut the home team's lead in half with her first goal of the season in the 72nd minute. She pounced on a relaxed back pass to the keeper and one-touched the ball into the net at the top of the six-yard box.

From that point forward, Milwaukee seized control of possession, but their efforts appeared frenetic and they were unable to build an equalizing opportunity.

For the game, YSU had advantages in shots (15-9) and corner kicks (6-5). Forbes finished with five saves in the game, while Podolsky stopped four.

The Panthers return to action with a third-straight league road game Wednesday at Valparaiso.
