Soule And Colarossi Advance To Title Match In Top Doubles Flight At DePaul

Sept. 29, 2012

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Maddy Soule and Christina Colarossi advanced to the title match of the top doubles flight to highlight day two of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's play at the DePaul Invitational.

The duo has now beaten the top two tandems from DePaul along with the top tandem from UIC in moving through the tournament.

Saturday's action also saw Kelly Fritz post a 2-0 record in singles action while two other UWM doubles tandems posted victories.

"We are playing as well in doubles as we have since I've been the coach at Milwaukee," head coach Sean McInerney said. "This is a very good invitational with excellent competition, and to have Maddy and Christina in the championship of the top flight is pretty impressive. In singles we're playing hard but we're just not quite at the level we need to be at later in the season. But I'm looking forward to seeing us take on the challenges again tomorrow."

Fritz and Dana Shannon captured an 8-3 victory over a pair from Western Michigan while Chelsea Bailey and Cassie Kovach downed a tandem from Valparaiso.

In addition to Fritz's 2-0 singles mark, Brittany Skemp split a pair of singles contests while Kristin Kurer added a win over a player from Chicago State.

The invitational wraps up Sunday.
