ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team will have a tandem in the semifinals of the top doubles flight Saturday after a strong first day at the DePaul Invitational.

The duo of Maddy Soule and Christina Colarossi collected wins over pairs from DePaul and UIC in advancing to the final four of the top bracket.

Milwaukee's other three doubles teams split matches on the day, while Dana Shannon and Colarossi each won their opening singles match of the event.

"Overall I think we had a solid day," Milwaukee head coach Sean McInerney said. "I am extremely impressed with the level on competition at this tournament and I am looking forward to seeing us matchup again tomorrow and see if we can improve. Our doubles today was much better than a couple of weeks ago at Minnesota but we are still not nearly active enough throughout the entire match. Tomorrow will be another chance to work on that."

Action at the event, which is taking place in Romeoville, Ill., continues through Sunday.
