Panthers Off To Best League Start In School History After Win In Youngstown

MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team won the doubles point and then added four singles victories to claim a 5-2 win over Youngstown State Friday.

The Panthers (10-6, 3-0 Horizon) are 3-0 in league play for the first time in school history.

The doubles tandem of Kelly Fritz and Kristin Kurer got the day off on the right foot by securing the doubles point with an 8-4 win in the second spot.

Then, the bottom portion of Milwaukee's lineup came through, as UWM claimed victories in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth singles slots. Christina Colarossi captured a hard-fought 6-3, 6-4 win in the third position while Brittany Skemp was impressive in sweeping her way to a 6-0, 6-0 win in the fifth position.

Milwaukee continues its weekend road trip to Ohio with a Saturday contest against Cleveland State. The Vikings are also 3-0 in league play after a win over Green Bay Friday.
