MADISON, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee put up a strong fight in the top singles and doubles spots before falling to the University of Wisconsin, 7-0, Sunday afternoon.

Christina Colarossi and Maddy Soule dropped the top doubles match in a tiebreaker while Soule and Chelsea Bailey each extended their singles contests to three sets before falling.

Soule's singles match with Hannah Berner saw her claim the first set, 6-4, before falling in the second frame, 6-0. Berner then pulled out a 7-5 win in the third set. Meanwhile, Bailey's contest in the second singles slot saw her win the first set 6-2 before dropping the second set, 6-2. The tiebreaker in the third set was 10-6.

The score of the top doubles match involving Soule and Colarossi was 8-7 (6). "I was pleased with our energy and effort today against a very deep Wisconsin team," UWM head coach Sean McInerney said. "In singles I thought we competed extremely well at the top-three positions but I was a little disappointed with how our bottom half of the lineup performed. For us to compete with the best teams in our conference, this is going to have to be a strength of ours. We will get back to work this week and show great improvement against Bradley and Chicago State."

UWM plays two more matches next weekend, facing Chicago State Friday and Bradley Saturday.
