INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team ended its 2011 spring season with a 4-0 loss to Wright State in the consolation match of the Horizon League Championships.

The Raiders won the doubles point and then claimed three singles wins to end the match, played in brisk and overcast conditions outdoors at North Central High School in Indianapolis.

The Panthers (11-11) again played without League Newcomer of the Year and all-league performer Maddy Soule, who is sidelined by injury.

"I was very happy with how hard the team competed," UWM head coach Sean McInerney said. "It is never easy to play in the back draw, the conditions were less than ideal and we were playing without our best player. But the effort put forth represented why we were successful this season. There is no doubt we are going in the right direction and seeing our players competing this way is another step in that direction. I am already excited about next season and the things we can accomplish."

Milwaukee loses just one senior in Sammi Schoen, who leaves as UWM's all-time singles wins leader. Schoen played in the most competitive singles match of the day. She was up 4-3 in the second set against Masha Peresetsky when the overall match ended. She had dropped the first set, 6-4, at number-two singles.

Beth Ganser was ahead in her contest when the match ended. She was ahead of Tayloy Hines, 6-3, 2-0, at number-five singles.
