HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team claimed a 7-0 win over the University of Sioux Falls Tuesday as part of its spring trip to South Carolina.

The Panthers (9-5) were dominant in both singles and doubles play in winning for the fourth time in their last five outings.

In doubles play, all three Milwaukee tandems controlled their matches. Then in singles, Maddy Soule, Sammi Schoen, Brittany Skemp and Beth Ganser all won by 6-0, 6-0 scores, while Megan Gow and Kristin Kurer also claimed wins in straight sets.

Along with today's victory, the trip has given the Panthers a good amount of time to work outdoors and get ready for an important stretch run of league play.

"It's been such a wonderful spring break thus far," UWM head coach Sean McInerney said. "The weather has been amazing and we have gotten a good mix of hitting and fun. The girls have worked so hard the past six months and it is a well-deserved trip for everyone."

Now, the attention turns squarely on Horizon League play, where the Panthers have won two of their first three matches. Milwaukee hosts Youngstown State and Cleveland State this weekend.

"We are very excited to play Youngstown and Cleveland this weekend," McInerney said. "Competing against these upper-tier programs is a great opportunity to see how far we have come as a program. Both teams are very talented, well-coached and aggressive and they have really dominated us in the past. We have worked extremely hard to improve and I am interested in seeing how we match up this weekend. It will be a great test for our young team."

Saturday's match with Youngstown State starts at 3 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Tennis and Fitness in Jackson. Sunday's contest with Cleveland State begins at 10 a.m.
