CHICAGO - Doubles play higlighted the first day of the UIC Invite.

The Panthers' top doubles team of Maddy Soule and Christina Colarossi claimed a pair of wins. The tandem beat UIC's top team, 8-5, before knocking off the University of Chicago, 8-1.

The Flames' top doubles tandem included Horizon League Player of the Year Mariya Kovaleva.

"I thought Maddy and Christina really played well today. They started very quickly and took control of the match against UIC," UWM head coach Sean McInerney said. "They stayed aggressive and moved well which is so important against such a quality opponent. I have a lot of respect for UIC, they are well coached and very talented and an individual win against them is a step in the right direction. I am looking forward to seeing how we respond tomorrow in the singles portion of the invite."
