The Panthers (8-9, 3-3 Horizon) were within 39-37 early in the second half before the burst by the Phoenix (8-9, 2-3) made it a 58-40 game.

UWM did make a late run to get within four, but Green Bay made six of its final eight free throws to seal the victory.

Kaylon Williams had 14 points and Tone Boyle 13 for Milwaukee, which also got 12 points and 12 rebounds from Anthony Hill along with 10 points from Tony Meier.

The Panthers shot just 35.1 percent from the field for the game, though, and made just 9-of-26 from three-point range.

Rahmon Fletcher added 13 points and Steve Baker 10 for Green Bay.

The deciding run was sparked by a three-pointer from Baker with 15:30 remaining and included eight points from Fletcher. A layup by Baker with 7:21 remaining pushed the edge to 58-40, as Milwaukee missed 12 of its 13 shots during the stretch.

UWM's late comeback included four points in a row from Williams before threes from Ja'Rob McCallum and Boyle made it 63-56 with under a minute to play. A three by Meier brought Milwaukee to within 68-64 with 16 seconds left, but Perine made a single free throw to provide for the final margin.

The Panthers dug themselves an early hole by missing 10 of their first 11 shots. In fact, Green Bay held leads to 9-1, 12-3 and 21-13 before Milwaukee really found its stride. Three-pointers by Williams and Kyle Kelm brought UWM within 23-19 and a Boyle steal and score made it 23-21 with 9:24 remaining.

Milwaukee took its first lead of the night on a pair of Meier free throws with 6:03 left and UWM was back up 32-30 following four-straight points by Hill. But, Williams went to the bench with his second foul right after that and the Panthers didn't score again in the half.

Green Bay wound up carrying a 35-32 lead into the locker room but the lead was still just 39-37 when Hill made a single free throw with 16:37 remaining. Green Bay pulled away from there, though, scoring 17 of the next 20 points to seize control of the game.

Milwaukee returns home for a pair of games next week, squaring off with UIC Thursday night before hosting Loyola Saturday afternoon.
