Panthers Claim Four Singles Wins On Day Two In Iowa

WATERLOO, Iowa - Four players won singles contests as the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee continued play Saturday in the Northern Iowa Invitational.

The event, which continues Sunday, was slowed by weather and eventually moved indoors. But, the Panthers battled through to remain in play in the consolation portion of three different brackets.

Maddy Soule claimed a 6-0, 6-2 win over Martina Schnapp of Northern Illinois in the Platinum Bracket, while Kelly Fritz captured a thrilling, three-set win over Amanda Aragon of Drake in the Silver Bracket. Fritz won the tiebreaking third set, 10-8.

In the Bronze Bracket, Kristin Kurer claimed a convincing 6-2, 6-0 win over Ilse Pacheco of Northern Illinois. Beth Ganser also won in straight sets, downing Kelsey Foster of South Dakota, 6-0, 6-4.
