DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team came through in singles play to claim a key, 4-3 win over Wright State Friday.

The win over the Raiders helped keep alive UWM's hopes of a top-six league finish and a spot in the Horizon League Championships, scheduled for later this month in Indianapolis.

Milwaukee recovered from dropping the doubles point to pull out four singles contests. Kari Kastenholz won in straight sets in the top spot while Kelly Drvaric did the same in the second slot. Sammi Schoen then won at #3 singles while Kelly Fritz pulled out a 6-1, 6-4 victory at #5 singles to push the Panthers over the top.

UWM did win one of the doubles contests, as Drvaric and Kastenholz teamed up for an 8-6 win in the top slot. But, Wright State won the other two outings, forcing the Panthers to do their work in singles play.
