MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team wrapped up its 2010 spring season with a 4-3 loss to Detroit Sunday at the Paley Tennis Center.

The Panthers (5-14, 2-6 Horizon) won the doubles point but then could pull out only two of the six singles outings in dropping its second-straight 4-3 decision.

With the defeat, Milwaukee falls out of contention for a top-six finish in the league and thus will not participate in the Horizon League Championships, scheduled for two weeks from now in Indianapolis.

Playing in their final outing as Panthers, seniors Kelly Drvaric and Kari Kastenholz got things started nicely with a 9-7 win at number-one doubles. With freshmen Brittany Skemp and Kelly Fritz capturing an 8-3 win in the third slot, UWM went up 1-0 in the match.

Drvaric then added a 6-3, 6-3 win at number-two singles, while Sammi Schoen added a 3-6, 6-4, 6-0 win in the fourth singles slot. But, after also getting straight-set victories at number-one and number-three singles, Detroit (7-10, 5-1) recorded easy wins in the fifth and sixth slots to wrap up the match.
