MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Northern Iowa Friday night at the Paley Tennis Center.

The Panthers (3-8) dropped the doubles point and then was able to pull out just two of the six singles contests.

Kari Kastenholz and Brittany Skemp captured singles wins for Milwaukee, while the doubles tandem of Skemp and Sammi Schoen pulled out a hard-fought 8-7 win in the number-two slot.

Each of the UWM singles wins came in straight sets. Kastenholz claimed a 6-0, 6-1 victory in the number-four slot while Skemp was a 6-1, 6-1 winner in the fifth spot. For Skemp, it was her team-high fifth victory of the spring.

"We played our best match of the season by far," UWM head coach Sean McInerney said. "I was very proud of how hard we played against an extremely talented opponent. Brittany Skemp played absolutely amazing in both doubles and singles. She has continued to improve and the future looks very bright for her at UWM. I think that we are ready to have a very successful league run."

UWM takes a weekend off before beginning Horizon League play with matches against Valparaiso and UIC March 20 and 21.
