Panthers Open Weekend With Win Over IUPUI

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team opened its weekend swing through Indiana with a 5-2 win over IUPUI late Friday night in Indianapolis.

The Panthers (2-0) won the doubles point for the second-straight outing and then won four of six singles matches in straight-sets.

Sammi Schoen and Kelly Fritz each claimed victories in both singles and doubles action to lead the way.

UWM actually won all three of its doubles contests. The tightest match came in the top slot, where Kelly Drvaric and Schoen teamed up for a 7-4 win in a tiebreaker.

Then, in singles play, Schoen won in straight-sets in the #2 slot while Fritz captured a 6-1, 6-2 win at #4 singles. Brittany Skemp (#5 singles) and Beth Ganser (#6 singles) also captured victories.

UWM continues its road trip with a Saturday contest at Ball State.
