The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team dropped the doubles point but won all six singles contests to claim a 6-1 win over Valparaiso Friday at the Matchpoint Tennis Club.
The Panthers (8-7, 3-1 Horizon) won five of the six matches in straight-sets, easily capturing its third win in four league outings.
The one match that went three sets came in the sixth slot, with Megan Gow pulling out at 6-2, 6-7, 10-4 win over Lindsey Gustafson.
Kari Kastenholz pulled out a tough win in a rare appearance at #1 singles, claiming a 6-4, 7-6 win over Kim Sajevic. Kelly Drvaric won, 6-1, 6-2, at #2 singles while Ashley Schoneman pulled out a 6-4, 6-3 victory in the third slot.
Sammi Schoen was an easy 6-0, 6-0 winner at #4 singles while Jenna Felsher claimed a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Stephanie York at #5 singles.
In doubles play, UWM's lone win came in the #2 slot, with Schoneman and Schoen capturing an 8-1 win.
UWM returns to action Sunday, hosting Cleveland State at the Paley Tennis Center.
