INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee dropped a 4-0 decision to Detroit in the second round of the Horizon League Women's Tennis Championship at North Central High School.

The Panthers looked like they might extend the contest, as two matches were into a third set and UWM had won the first set in another. But, a strong Detroit surge in the sixth slot allowed the Titans to clinch the victory.

Detroit opened the contest by winning the doubles point with a hard-fought victory in the second slot. The Titans also added convincing wins in the top two singles slots and won the first set in the sixth slot.

But, Megan Gow recovered to pull ahead 5-2 in the second set at #6, making it appear as though the Panthers would remain alive for a comeback win. Instead, a strong late push by Erin Weldon allowed her to wrap up the match with a 7-5 win in the second set, giving Detroit the overall contest.

When the Titans clinched the match, Ashley Schoneman was up one set at #4 singles, while Sammi Schoen (#3 singles) and Jenna Felsher (#5) singles were each battling in a deciding third set.

Detroit's first two singles wins came in straight sets, as Annie Moore knocked off Kelly Drvaric in the top spot while Zeljka Minic knocked off Kari Kastenholz at #2 singles.

UWM will now wrap up play in the tournament with an appearance in the fifth-place match, which is slated to begin at 2 p.m. EDT/1 p.m. CDT.
