MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team swept through both singles and doubles play to claim a 7-0 win over a short-handed IUPUI team Saturday night at the Paley Tennis Center.

The Jaguars (0-8) had just four players but the Panthers (4-4) showed no mercy in winning all six contested matches.

In fact, head coach Matt McCaskill shuffled his lineup and allowed players to play above their usual spots, still getting stellar results. Ashley Schoneman moved up to #1 singles and claimed a three-set win over Emily Holsapple, while Megan Gow played in the second slot and captured a 6-2, 6-0 win over Vanessa Carna.

"It was really nice to see Ashley and Megan step up in the order and win," McCaskill said. "IUPUI was short-handed but their top two players beat the top two players from Valpo yesterday, so those were really good wins for Ashley and Megan to get. We are definitely improving and we took care of business today."

Sammi Schoen and Jenna Felsher also claimed singles wins, while IUPUI defaulted in the fifth and sixth slots. Then in doubles play, Kelly Drvaric and Kari Kasteholz claimed an 8-4 in the top spot while Karlee Miller and Megan Gow captured an 8-0 win in the second slot. IUPUI defaulted in the third slot.

UWM continues its home schedule next weekend, hosting Ball State and IPFW.

"We should have two very competitive matches next weekend," McCaskill said. "We certainly have an opportunity to go 2-0, but we will have to play well. That is our goal."
