MILWAUKEE - Kelly Drvaric and Jenna Felsher each won singles matches but the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee dropped a 5-2 decision to Illinois State Saturday night at the Helfaer Tennis Center.

The Panthers (3-4) also came close to pulling out the doubles point but could not get over the hump.

Drvaric's win came in the top spot, as she captured a 7-5, 6-4 win over Natalia Lech. Then, Felsher claimed a 6-0, 6-1 win over Sara Streitz at #6 singles.

In doubles action, Drvaric and Kari Kastenholz dropped the match in the top slot. UWM's tandem led early but fell, 9-8, with a 7-5 score in the tiebreaker. Gow and Felsher also battled in the third slot before falling, 8-5.

"It was another good challenge against a Missouri Valley Conference team," UWM head coach Matt McCaskill said. "It was a great match by Kelly Drvaric and we played well at number-one and number-three in doubles. We just have to learn to do a better job of finishing some of our matches when we get up early. But, this continues to be great preparation for league play. We are progressing and getting better and we'll be ready for IUPUI next weekend.

The Panthers and Jaguars will play at the Paley Tennis Center Saturday at 5 p.m.
