MILWAUKEE -
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team wrapped up its regular season with a 6-1 win over Green Bay Saturday night at the Paley Tennis Center.
The Panthers (12-11, 4-4 Horizon) won two of three doubles matches and five of six singles contests in snapping a three-match losing streak.
After claiming the doubles point, UWM was in control of each of the first four singles matches in clinching the win.
Kelly Drvaric, Martina Schnapp, Kari Kastenholz, Sammi Schoen and Lauren Fenley all won their singles contests in straight-sets. Meanwhile, the tandems of Drvaric and Kastenholz along with Felsher and Schnapp each captured doubles victories.
"It is good to beat Green Bay convincingly the last two years after having such a long losing streak against them," UWM head coach Matt McCaskill said. "It should give us some confidence heading into the league championships. We've been a little banged up but I think we'll be healthier by next week and hopefully have some success."
UWM will now turn its attention toward those league championships, which are this coming weekend in Indianapolis. Final seedings for the tournament have not been set but the Panthers know they are scheduled open play at 1 p.m. EDT Friday.
