MACOMB, Ill. -
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team returned from a three-week break to claim an easy 7-0 win over Upper Iowa Saturday afternoon at Western Illinois University.
The cold weather in Illinois adjusted the original schedule, which had UWM scheduled to face Western Illinois and SEMO today and Upper Iowa tomorrow. Instead, the Panthers (10-7) rolled past the Peacocks with hopes of facing both the Leathernecks and Redhawks Sunday.
The Panthers were never truly threatened in sweeping all six singles matches and all three doubles contests. Sammi Schoen and Jenna Felsher posted the two most-dominant performances in singles play, with Schoen winning 6-0, 6-1 at #4 singles while Felsher claimed a 6-0, 6-0 victory in the #5 slot. Meanwhile, in doubles play, Kari Kastenholz and Kelly Drvaric led the way in posting an 8-2 win in the first slot.
If the weather allows, UWM will face Western Illinois at 9 a.m. Sunday before taking on SEMO at 3 p.m.
