PEORIA, Ill. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team won four of six singles contests to pull out a key 4-3 win over Detroit Saturday afternoon.

After dropping the doubles point, the Panthers (9-6, 2-1 Horizon) recovered to win at #1, #3, #4 and #6 singles to capture their fourth-straight victory.

Kelly Drvaric was a winner in the number-one slot, claiming a 6-4, 7-6 victory over Aneta Maricevic. At #3 singles, Kari Kastenholz downed Erin Weldon, 6-4, 6-0. In the number-four slot, it was Sammi Schoen collecting a 6-3, 6-3 win over Kelly Davis. Finally, Jenna Felsher was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at #6 singles.

"We stepped up nicely in singles after losing the doubles point," UWM head coach Matt McCaskill said. "Detroit's injuries may have caught up with them but we did a very good job of controlling things. It was a good weekend and it is great to be off to a 2-1 start in the league."

Milwaukee returns to action next weekend with a match at Ball State.
