MUNCIE, Ind. - A pair of University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee doubles tandems won two matches apiece to move into the finals at the Ball State Fall Invitational Friday afternoon.

In all, UWM went 4-2 in doubles action and 6-10 in singles play during the first day of the event, which includes seven teams.

The team of Kelly Drvaric and Kari Kastenholz each won twice in Flight A doubles and will face a tandem from Butler in the title contest Saturday. Meanwhile, Lauren Fenley and Traci Litscher won a pair of matches in Flight D doubles and will face a doubles team from Northern Illinois in the finals.

In singles action, Drvaric split two matches in Flight A, including a hard-fought win over Sophie Quist of Ball State, who played #1 singles for the Cardinals last season. Martina Schapp also split two matches in Flight A.

In Flight B, Kastenholz dropped two contests while Sammi Schoen split two matches, and in Flight C, Jenna Felsher split two while Ashley Schoneman went 0-2. Finally, in Flight D, Fenley and Litscher each split two contests.

"It was a great day in doubles for Kelly and Kari, and it was an especially good day for Kelly to get the two doubles wins and a big singles win," UWM head coach Matt McCaskill said. "It was also nice to see Lauren and Traci have success in the `D' flight, too. I am sure they will all work hard to try to keep it up tomorrow."

Action in the event continues throughout the day Saturday.
