LEXINGTON, Ky. - Mike Brown and Sean Coughlin combined for nine hits and eight runs batted in to lead the University of Kentucky to an 18-2 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee baseball team on Sunday afternoon at Cliff Hagan Stadium. The Panthers (0-6) got off to a rough start, trailing 5-0 after the second inning in getting swept on the weekend by the No. 21 Wildcats (12-0).

Junior Jesse Hart was 3-for-4 to lead Milwaukee and has now hit safely in all six games this season. Senior Rob Brockel finished with two hits and a run scored.

Kentucky scored in all but the third inning, taking a quick 5-0 lead after two and running away from there. It pounded out 19 hits, with Brown (5-for-6, 3 RBI) and Coughlin (4-for-5, 5 RBI) leading the charge.

The Panthers first run came in the sixth, when Brockel singled and came home on a base hit off the bat of sophomore Shawn Wozniak that was misplayed for extra bases by the rightfielder. They added another in the seventh when freshman Wes Munson walked, went to third on junior Grant Berkovitz's single and came home on a sacrifice fly off the bat of sophomore Dan Buchholz.

After getting two run-scoring base hits in the first inning, UK got some help from Milwaukee in plating three more in the second. An error and three walks paved the way for the hosts to take a 5-0 advantage after two complete.

Senior Mike Rauwerdink (0-2) went 1.2 innings, allowing five runs, but just two being earned. He walked four and did not record a strikeout. Sophomore Tim Hoy relieved, striking out three in 2.1 innings. Sophomore Andy Hetebrueg, senior Tom Zimmerman and junior Brandon Duffy also saw action on the mound.

The Panthers remain on the road to open 2007, traveling to Clarksville, Tenn., next weekend to take on Austin Peay in a three-game series March 9-11.
