The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team dropped a pair of hard-fought matches in Indianapolis over the weekend.
The Panthers fell to IUPUI, 5-2, Saturday night before falling to league rival Butler by the same score Sunday morning.
In the contest with IUPUI, Kelly Drvaric claimed a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over Jessica Petersson at #1 singles while Traci Litscher pulled out a 7-5, 7-6 (5) victory against Nikki Evans at #5 singles.
Three other singles matches were extended to three sets, with Ashley Schoneman's contest at the #4 spot the most hotly contested. Schoneman and Tessa Williams split the first two sets before Williams pulled out a 10-8 win in the third set. Kari Kastenholz and Lauren Fenley also each won the first sets of their matches before falling, while UWM was swept in all three doubles matches.
Sunday against Butler, the Panthers pulled out wins at #4 and #5 singles but could not quite claim two additional points.
