The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team claimed a pair of dual match wins Saturday afternoon in Cedar Rapids.
The Panthers claimed a 4-3 victory over Creighton in the first contest of the day before downing the hosts from Coe College, 6-1.
In the match with Creighton, UWM won all four of its points in singles play. Kelly Drvaric (#2 singles) and Traci Litscher (#6 singles) won three-set matches, while Ali O'Neal (#4 singles) and Ashley Schoneman (#5 singles) captured straight-set wins. The doubles team of O'Neal and Litscher also pulled out a win, but UWM dropped its other two doubles matches.
Against Coe, the Panthers controlled nearly every match, winning five of the six singles contests while also claiming the doubles point for the first time this season. Drvaric needed a tiebreaker to claim a win at #1 singles while Kari Kastenholz (#2 singles), O'Neal (#4 singles), Schoneman (#5 singles) and Lauren Fenley (#6 singles) all won in straight sets.
In doubles play, the top tandem of O'Neal and Drvaric claimed a difference-making 9-8 win while the #3 team of Kastenholz and Fenley won, 8-3.
UWM returns to action next weekend, playing a pair of matches in Green Bay, Wis. The Panthers will the host Phoenix Friday night before taking on Xavier Saturday afternoon.
