MACOMB, Ill. - Lauren Fenley claimed a singles title while the tandem of Ashley Schoneman and Sammi Schoen captured a doubles crown as the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team wrapped up play at the Hinds-Kellogg Classic at Western Illinois University Saturday.

In all, the Panthers went 17-7 in singles and 8-3 in doubles in the event, with three other singles players advancing as far as the finals.

Fenley's singles title came in Flight F while Schoneman and Schoen captured a win over a tandem from Western Illinois to claim the Flight B doubles crown.

In other action, Martina Schnapp won in the semifinals of Flight B before falling in the finals. Jenna Felsher followed the same path in Flight D while Traci Litscher won in the semis before losing in the finals of Flight E.

Schoen bounced back from a loss Friday to claim two wins in Flight B, with one of the victories coming over former Panther Ashley Clark, who now plays at Western Illinois. Ashley Schoneman lost in the semifinals of Flight C before bouncing back to win the third-place match. Also, teammates Kari Kastenholz and Kelly Drvaric each fell in the semifinals in Flight A and did not play off for third place.

"It was a great tournament for us. We definitely experienced a lot of success," UWM head coach Matt McCaskill said. "We played hard and it was a good way for the full team to finish up the fall. We ended on a very positive note."

The final event of the fall season is the ITA Regionals, which will take place in just under three weeks. Qualifiers should be announced during the coming week, with a handful of Panther players expected to take part.
