Ball State Sweeps Past Panthers

MUNCIE, Ind. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team opened the 2006 spring season with a 7-0 loss at Ball State Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers were swept in all six singles matches and all three doubles matches. Ball State also claimed wins in a pair of exhibition singles matches and an exhibition doubles match.

Margie Van Lieshout was the most competitive player for the Panthers, fighting at #1 singles before falling to Jessica Thompson, 6-3, 6-1.

In doubles play, the most competitive match came in the #3 slot, as Elizabeth Angel and Lauren Fenley fell, 8-5, to Jennifer Pollack and Rachel Lemar.

The Panthers continue their weekend trip to Indiana with a match Sunday against IPFW.
