MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee dropped a pair of Horizon League women's tennis matches, falling to UIC, 7-0, Friday night and to Cleveland State, 6-1, Saturday afternoon.

The Flames, the defending Horizon League champions, handled the Panthers Friday in Chicago while the Vikings had to overcome some strong play by UWM to claim the win.

Saturday at Mooreland Park, Shayna Illingworth claimed a win at #6 singles for the Panthers, while Tammie Spiel pushed her match at #1 singles to three sets and Margie Van Lieshout fell, 7-5, 7-5, at #2 singles.

Friday, none of the UIC players were ever threatened by the Panthers, who have never beaten UIC in women's tennis.

"Saturday's match was a lot closer than the 6-1 score," UWM head coach Matt McCaskill said. "We were in all of the singles matches and Shayna had a nice win. We're getting closer because we're hanging tight in a lot of matches. But we're still figuring out how to win."
