MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee tennis team fell just short to Detroit Saturday afternoon, as they were defeated 4-3. The Panthers started off slow losing two of three doubles matches, however turned it around in singles play, claiming three victories.

In doubles action, Kristen Bauknecht and Erin Felber claimed an 8-6 victory at the #3 spot over the Titan's tandem of Savarino/Merritt. "The match was close throughout, but they kept fighting through it," head coach Erika Wentz said.

In #1 singles action, Margie Van Lieshout downed Bianca Savarino 6-4, 6-4 under what coach Wentz described as "adverse conditions." Tammie Spiel overcame a 2-5 deficit in the first set to claim a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Kaitilin McVehil in the #2 slot. While playing at the #4 position, Erin Felber collected her first singles victory of the season over Claire Chang, 7-6, 7-2.

"We had a lot of good individual efforts today," Wentz said

The Panthers return to action next weekend as they will host Wright State at 12 p.m.
