MILWAUKEE -
On an afternoon which pitted two teams battling for seventh place in Horizon League women's tennis, Wright State proved too much for the Panthers. Heading into the match, the Raiders were winless in conference action. However, after receiving two players back from suspension, the Raiders downed the Panthers 6-1.
"We didn't play our best tennis today," head coach Erika Wentz said. "We are still setting up our points well, but we need to get better at closing them out."
Claiming the only victory of the day for the Panthers was senior Cassie Kuranz. Playing in the #5 spot, Kuranz downed Carla Haun, 6-4, 6-1.
"Cassie continues to play well," Wentz said. "She played really smart today."
Kuranz teamed with Margie Van Lieshout in doubles action. Playing in the #1 slot, the pair lost a close 8-5 decision to the tandem of Jacobs/Beckett.
The Panthers return to action next Saturday at 1 p.m. as they will host Horizon League rival UIC.
