GREEN BAY, Wis. -
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee dropped a 5-2 decision to UW-Green Bay Thursday in a Horizon League women's tennis dual.
The Panthers won the doubles point behind a pair of wins but then dropped five of the six singles matches.
Tammie Spiel and Megan Brown claimed an 8-4 win at #2 doubles while Melissa Hackett and Kristen Bauknecht secured a 9-7 win at #3 doubles. But the only win UWM could secure in singles was an impressive 6-4, 6-3 win by Cassie Kuranz in the #6 spot.
"We got a little comfortable with our lead," UWM head coach Erika Wentz said. "We played great doubles and shell-shocked them a little bit. But we let up in singles."
The match was the first of the spring for the Panthers, who dropped their only dual meet in the fall.
UWM returns to action Saturday, hosting Chicago State at 5 p.m.
