MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -
Cassie Kuranz and Tammie Spiel put up a tough fight before falling in the consolation finals of the doubles bracket at the Gopher Invitational Sunday.
Three other Panther players won their final matches of the tournament by default as UWM wrapped up the three-day tournament.
Kuranz and Spiel fell, 8-5, to a team from Gustavus Adolphus. Margie Van Lieshout and Shayna Illingworth won a doubles match by default over a team from Iowa State while Erin Felber won a singles match by default.
"Things got better from day to day, but all-in-all we have to come out ready to play with the maximum amount of fight and effort," UWM head coach Erika Wentz said.
The Panthers return to action next Saturday, playing at UW-Whitewater.
