PEORIA, Ill. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee used an eight-run sixth inning to win the nightcap of a doubleheader with Bradley, 16-10, earning a split of the two games Wednesday afternoon.

The Panthers (8-9) dropped the opener, 5-3.

In the second game, UWM trailed 8-4 entering the sixth after Bradley (12-13) scored once in the fourth and three times in the fifth to break a 4-all tie. The Panthers exploded, though, sending 12 men to the plate in the sixth to come-from-behind and break the game open.

Jeff Pitrof drove in five runs in the contest while Dave Pudlosky added four RBI. In the decisive sixth inning, Pitrof drove in two runs with a single while Marcellus Dawson, Charlie Reschke and Pudlosky all had RBI singles with Matt Alexander adding an RBI double.

Korey Keller (1-1) allowed three earned runs in five innings to capture the win while Collin Walker (2-4) gave up five runs in an inning of work to absorb the loss.

In the first game, Bradley scored three times in the third and twice in the fourth to build a 5-2 lead it would never give up. Pudlosky hit a solo home run for the Panthers in the fourth and UWM also scored thanks to an RBI double by Pitrof in the second and an RBI single by Troy Doering in the seventh. Pitrof and David Michna had two hits apiece for UWM.

Doering reached base safely in each game, extending his streak of reaching base safely to 52 games.

Cory Kleeba (2-2) allowed four earned runs and eight hits while taking the loss despite tossing a complete game. Brad Garrett (1-3) recorded all but the final out for the Braves to claim the win.

UWM returns to action Saturday, opening its home schedule with a special 5 p.m. doubleheader at Miller Park against Valparaiso.
