Impressive performances by Tammie Spiel and Erin Felber highlighted the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's performances at the Ball State Invitational Friday and Saturday.
Spiel won two matches in Flight A singles while Felber also won two matches, including one over Horizon League rival Butler, to top highlights from the event for the Panthers.
Kristen Bauknecht and Shayna Illingworth each won one match for UWM, while the doubles team of Megan Brown and Melissa Hackett won twice and the team of Felber and Bauknecht won once.
Spiel dropped her opening match in the top flight before beating Jill Carie of IPFW, 6-2, 6-0. She then beat Mallory Stemle of IUPUI, 6-3, 6-1, before losing her final match.
Felber won her first match in Flight D singles, 6-2, 6-3, over Madison Reasoner of IUPUI before dropping her second match. She then bounced back to beat Kristen Haider of Butler, 7-6, 6-2, before falling in her final match.
Illingworth recorded a 7-6, 6-2 win over Lisa Bartelheim of IPFW in Flight B singles and Bauknecht had a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Jackie Eakright of IPFW in Flight D.
In doubles play, Brown and Hackett went 2-0 thanks to 8-2 and 8-6 wins over teams from IPFW. Felber and Bauknecht went 1-1 with an 8-6 win over a team from IUPUI.
