Panther Tennis Falls To Bradley, 4-3

MILWAUKEE - The UWM tennis team narrowly missed getting their first win of the season Sunday, falling to Bradley by a 4-3 margin. UWM also dropped a match on Saturday to DePaul by a 7-0 count. The Panthers, with the pair of losses on the weekend, fall to 0-8 overall.

The Panthers picked up their three wins on Sunday in singles play, with Tammie Spiel, Molly Caulk and Melissa Hackett picking up the victories. Spiel, in No. 1 singles, defeated Bradley's Marcie Cain, 6-1, 6-0, while Caulk dispatched Tori Robertson in straight sets at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-3. Hackett picked up the win over Nicole Kirley, 6-0, 7-5, in No. 6 singles.

Julie Heling nearly gave the Panthers the victory, winning her first set in No. 5 singles against Bradley's Marissa Bianchi, 7-6 (7-2), before giving up the next two sets, 2-6, 4-6.

The Panthers are off until Mar. 21, when they will take on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in Edinburg, Texas. The match kicks off a three-game trip for UWM through Texas over Spring Break.
